What is independent AC repair?
Independent AC repair is work done by a local company whose owner is accountable for the job. You call the shop. A dispatcher at a national brand does not assign it to whoever bought the lead.
Is independent AC repair cheaper?
Often, because the price does not have to carry a national advertising budget or a call-center fee. It is not automatically cheaper, and it is not automatically better. The advantage is that you can ask the owner who is coming and what the repair costs before anyone talks you into a new system.
Does this directory sell my phone number?
No. Independent AC Repair does not take the call and does not charge homeowners. The number on a listing rings that shop.
How do I check a license?
Ask the shop for the license number and check it with your state. This directory does not verify licenses, insurance, or reviews. A listing is a way to reach an owner-operated company, not a certification.
Can a shop list for free?
Yes. A standard listing is free. Homeowners see the name, the city, and the phone number, and they call the shop. Featured placement is optional and puts that shop at the top of its city.
What is a featured listing?
Featured placement is $30 a month and puts the company above the other shops in its city. The call still goes to the shop. If the placement is not useful after 60 days, the fee is refunded. No card is taken on the request form.
Do you cover every city?
The directory has owner-operated shops in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., with tighter pages for major cities. A town with no listing yet is a gap, not a claim that nobody works there. Shops can add themselves.
When should I repair instead of replace?
When a specific part has failed and the rest of the system still cools. A capacitor, a contactor, a fan motor, a drain, and a filthy coil are repairs. Ask for that price on its own page, separate from a replacement quote. Age by itself is not a diagnosis.
Are you affiliated with Carrier, Trane, or Lennox?
No. Independent AC Repair is not affiliated with any equipment manufacturer. Shops on the list may install or service those brands. That is their work, not a sponsorship of this site.
How is this different from a heating and HVAC directory?
This site is written for people searching independent AC repair: cooling, the outdoor unit, the coil, the drain, and the no-cool call. A heating question belongs with the shop, not on these pages.
